Beau Magic’s Deck of Cards Workout
You don’t need a gym to get strong. You just need a deck of cards, a TRX, and some heart. Today, I’m bringing you a workout that turns your bodyweight exercises into a game of blackjack with a twist. This is the Deck of Cards Workout, Beau Magic-style.
The Rules of the Deck
We’re treating each card in the deck like it’s worth something. Just like in blackjack, every card holds a value:
- Numbered cards (2-10):
Perform reps equal to the card’s value.
- Face cards (Jack, Queen, King):
10 reps.
- Aces:
11 reps.
- Jokers:
Wild cards. 10 reps of any exercise you choose — go for something tough to keep it interesting.
The Suits & Exercises
Each suit is assigned an exercise. Here’s how it breaks down:
- Hearts = Push-Ups
Focus on form and let your chest and triceps feel the burn. Aim for depth and power with each rep.
- Diamonds = Squats
These will fire up your legs. Keep your back straight, chest up, and get low to really work those quads and glutes.
- Clubs = TRX Rows
This one hits your back. Lean into the row, and pull yourself up by engaging those lats. Keep it smooth, and keep it steady.
- Spades = TRX Flys
Think of these as a chest and shoulder workout. Control each movement, feel that tension, and make sure your form stays solid.
How to Play
1. Shuffle the deck:
Give the cards a good shuffle to keep things random.
2. Flip a card:
Whatever you draw, that’s the exercise and number of reps.
3. Work through the deck:
Go card by card, exercise by exercise, until the whole deck is finished.
Example Draw
- 6 of Hearts: 6 Push-Ups
- **King of Diamonds**: 10 Squats
- **Ace of Clubs**: 11 TRX Rows
- **8 of Spades**: 8 TRX Flys
- **Joker**: 10 Burpees (or whatever you want for an extra challenge!)
### Tips for Success
- **Pace Yourself**: This workout builds up quickly. Take short breaks if you need them, but don’t get too comfortable.
- **Focus on Form**: Every rep counts, so make each one perfect. Quality beats quantity every time.
- **Joker Variation**: Mix up the Joker exercises to keep the workout fresh. Try jump squats, lunges, or even some core work like plank jacks or mountain climbers.
### The Beau Magic Mentality
This workout isn’t just about building muscle. It’s about pushing yourself, testing your limits, and keeping that Blackjack warrior mentality. When you’re tired, when the deck seems endless, remember you’ve got what it takes. You’re not just training your body — you’re training your mind.
Now grab that deck, set up your TRX, and get to work. This is Beau Magic’s workout, where we turn every card flip into a step closer to strength.
